Clockwork Software was formed in 2003 in New Zealand and the Australian equivalent was formed in 2008. Michael Hirst is the owner / director.

Michael has worked as a software consultant-developer for nearly 20 years. He specialises in Microsoft technologies and has a passion for business productivity solutions, automation in administration – Microsoft Office solutions, desktop and database solutions, and making systems share information and talk to each other.

He also has extensive experience in business analysis, development of desktop applications, and development in SQL Server, as well as with Microsoft Office integration for document and content management systems.

His experience also includes development of systems for transforming database and document content into suitable web content (XML, HTML).  Recent projects include generating Microsoft Word documents from database content using OpenXML (ie, without using Word), a data migration tool for SharePoint, and metadata manipulation for document migrations.

Some of our clients

Michael has had a longstanding relationship with the New Zealand Parliament (since 1993), primarily with the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives, as well as with the Parliamentary Library, and the Parliamentary Counsel Office.

Other larger clients include the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hutt City Council (both with Cognitum Group), and the New Zealand Securities Commission.
